White Tea Health Benefits

White TeaJust like its fellow green tea, White Tea comes from the Camellia sinensis plant. The difference with white tea is that the leaves are picked and harvested when the buds are still covered by fine white hair and have not fully opened yet. 

White tea is a bit more rare than the other in the sense that it is the least processed type of tea.  Which in turn, makes it more scarce and definitely more expenseive. You're looking at price up to $25 US for about 2-ounces of silver needle white tea.

Most white teas are produced in China and Japan, but some fine white teas are also produced in the Darjeeling region of India. White tea comes in different varietes keep your eye out for names such as: silver needle, white cloud, white peony, and golden moon.

White TeaA research study done by the Linus Pauling Institute at Oregon State University, found that white tea contains a higher amount of anti-oxidants than green tea.

Researchers found that white tea was effective in blocking DNA damage from some cancer-causing chemicals. Further tests are planned to confirm if these preliminary findings can be used for human cancer prevention and treatment.
